Reverence: A Sustainable Tea Brewer

Combining Tradition and Innovation

Designed by Hakan Gürsu and the Designnobis team, Reverence is a unique tea brewer that combines traditional elements with modern innovation. This sustainable teapot is not only visually appealing but also energy and resource efficient, making it a must-have for tea lovers.

What sets Reverence apart is its clever use of materials. The lower water pot consists of two chambers, insulated with perlite in between. This insulation allows the water to stay hot for a longer period, even after it's removed from the oven. Similar to a flask, Reverence keeps your tea at the perfect temperature, ensuring a delightful tea-drinking experience.

The design of Reverence is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Its inclined form resembles the gesture of serving tea, adding a touch of elegance to your tea time. The main body is composed of metal, accompanied by glass, wood, and ceramic elements. The base and parts where the wooden handles are attached are made of stainless steel, while the upper body is made of glass. The lower body consists of two chambers made from aluminum and ceramics.

Operating Reverence is simple and straightforward. The water is heated in the lower chamber, and then the hot water with tea leaves or bags is poured into the upper chamber. The teapot is left to brew for 5-10 minutes, and it's ready to serve. The vertical packaging of the teapot includes both chambers, making it easy to store and transport.

One of the main challenges in designing Reverence was effectively utilizing the space within the teapot. The double chambers filled with isolating materials and water had to fit within the average teapot size and dimensions. The Designnobis team successfully overcame this challenge, creating a teapot that not only looks sleek but also functions flawlessly.

Reverence was designed in Ankara and is a result of extensive research. The team explored various materials with insulation properties and ultimately chose perlite due to its affordability, abundance, and local availability. This decision not only made Reverence sustainable but also showcased the team's commitment to environmentally friendly design.

Reverence has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Home Appliances Design category in 2016. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate exceptional expertise, innovation, and artistic skill. Reverence's unique combination of functionality and beauty truly sets it apart.
